My ME102 wireless access point is giving me really slow data rates.

Unusable in fact. Signal strength and quality can be 100% (testing
with laptop next to access point), but data transfer rate so slow that
the internet times out.

Netgear support worse than completely useless.

Running Draytek Vigor 2200 USB router, connected to ADSL with Alcatel
modem.
Netgear Me102 access point, one PCMCIA and one USB wireless card (2
machines).

Other machines wired directly into the router get great performance.

It all worked fine for a year or more, then just stopped one day. No
idea what changed.

Any one any clues as to how I can find out what the problem is (let
alone fix it).

much appreciated

When reading your message I first thought that I had written
it myself, as I had the exact same problem and the exact
same hardware setup. My solution was to
replace the power supply of the me102.

Apparantly the provided 800ma power supply wears
down after about a year, I've replaced it with a 2400ma
power supply I had lying around and
everything was as speedy as it should be!

Hope this helps,
Dylan Schell
