Hi,

Have SB61G2 running with Windows XP SP1.
When using the earphone and mic-connector in the front there is a lot
of noise -- even when not playing any sounds on the PC.

No problems when using the connectors in back of the PC. The SB61G2
uses the Realtek ALC650 AC97-codec.

Anyone had similar problems?

IIRC there was a thread about this on some Shuttle related forum.
I think it turned out to be an earthing problem on the board which carries
the front sockets.An earth loop was causing noise.
If you Google around you should find the thread.

A slightly more direct link...

<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://forums.sudhian.com/messageview.cfm?catid=43&threadid=44521&STARTPAGE=1" target="_blank">http://forums.sudhian.com/messageview.cfm?catid=43&threadid=44521&STARTPAGE=1</a>

There's 9 more pages of discussion at

<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://forums.sudhian.com/messageview.cfm?catid=43&threadid=37411&FTVAR_MSGDBTABLE=&STARTPAGE=1" target="_blank">http://forums.sudhian.com/messageview.cfm?catid=43&threadid=37411&FTVA...SGDBTAB</a>

but the info in the first link is more recent, the second link just
builds up to that<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
