I have a P4P800 deluxe.

Will I void the warranty if I remove the Northbridge heatsink thermal
pad and replace it with thermal compound?

What if I lap it?

Any way I can get a replacement for that heatsink?
I mean can I get the exact heatsink in case I mod it and then I decide
to change it back to the original condition?

Thanks,

Navid

I don't think it's a good idea to remove the heatsink from the northbridge,
whatever the warranty terms. On P4P800 boards, the heatsink is glued on the
chip, and there is a great chance you will damage the chipset or the mobo
while trying to remove it.
If you want a better cooling for the northbridge, just attach a small fan on
the radiator. The outside fins of the radiator have a T-size and allow to
fix the fan with two plastic strips through the attachment holes of the fan.
It's not very "esthetic", but it works fine and ... at no risk! Mail me if
you want a photo.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I don't think that the heatsink is glued. It is held in place by two
flexible wires
(springs).
The thermal pad placed between the chipset and the heatsink may have
paraffin
or something like that in it, which results in connection specially when
cold.
The same thing happens to a P4 CPU and retail heatsink if you attempt to
remove it after operating it with the thermal pad for a while.

I don't know what benefit the springs have if the heatsink is glued to the
chipset.

I already have a fan mounted on a bracket blowing air to the AGP card as
well
as the chipset.
My only concern is that the chipset is not cooled as well as it could be due
to the
heatsink base not being perfectly flat.

Thanks for your reply.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

 >You're right, on the P4P800 he chipset is not glued, but fixed with 2 easy
to remove springs. I was confused cause I just modified another mobo wher it
was glued.
But that doesn' t change anything. The fan I fixed on the cooler with platic
strips was on a P4P800 and this solution is very efficient.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
