hi,

i just got a tip from a friend to buy the Supermicro P4SCT. I was
intrested in it becasue i need pci-x for many reasons. I was wondering
if the board is too out of date to be worth it though. Has anyone used
it? Dose it support presscott? Am i wasiting my time investing any
money in anything socket 478?

Dan,
The P4SCT is days old. Absolutely the furthest thing from out of date
that you can get today. You're not risking too much by going socket
478. Socket 775 is coming out later this year, but it's not enough of a
difference to say your socket 478 stuff is going to be obsolete and a
waste of money. That being said, it would be worthwhile to consider
waiting if the need isn't pressing, as I'm sure they'll be releasing a
similar board (Socket 775 with PCI-X) soon after those chips are introduced.
