A7V880 - Bad BIOS checksum - My A7V880 reports 'Bad BIOS Checksum, Starting BIOS Recovery' but this only seems to happen if rebooted, normal shutdown works ok. This machine has been flashed to 1009 using the ASUS Update utility from within XP (SP2). Anyone else this?

Hi Folks,
Having a problem with a new ASUS motherboard, and I'm righteously
stumped with an ongoing CMOS Checksum Bad error on post. Hoping
someone out there might have an idea.
Here's the background ...
P5K-E Motherboard
0901 BIOS
2 x internal 500GB SATA Drives
4GB RAM
The system is setup with the HD's running as RAID 1 mirrors. I've gone
into the BIOS, selected the SATA option from the first menu, and
switched from IDE to RAID. I press F10 to exit and save, and then did
the CTRL-I to access the Intel Matrix Storage Manager to define the
two drives as being a part of the mirror. The system reboots, and
everything is working a-ok.
If I shutdown the system (soft powerdown, still plugged in) and then
power back up, everything still works fine.
BUT, if I shutdown the system and completely shutoff the power to the
box (ie. unplug the power cord) when I bring the system back online I
get the error on post:
CMOS Checksum Bad
Press F1 to Enter SETUP.
When I go into setup, the drives have reverted back to being IDE. I
change them back to RAID, F10 to exit and save, and then everything is
good again .. UNTIL I completely shutoff power to the box, and then
I'm right back where to where I started with this CMOS Checksum Bad
error..
Here's the clincher. If I keep the drives set in the BIOS as just
"IDE Drives", no RAID, then I never get the CMOS Checksum Bad error. I
can completely shut down the system, unplug it from the power outlet,
plug it back and reboot ... no problem. There just seems to be
"something" that's causing the CMOS to get messed up whenever the
drives are setup as RAID 1.
The board is brand spanking new, just got it yesterday, and it had
BIOS 0503 on it. I was having these problems, so flashed the bios to
the current 0901. Didn't make a difference. The Intel Matrix Storage
Manager option ROM is v7.5.0.1017, which seems to be current from what
I can find.
The CMOS battery is a-ok as well.
Any / all suggestions greatly appreciated.

Doug,
I'm having the exact same problem with a P5K-E/WIFI with two SATA
drives in RAID1. Were you able to track down a solution for this
issue?

Might be a PSU that gives an over-optimistic power-good
signal. Can you try with a different one?
