I used to build computers all the time. I got out of the habit but
now I'd like to get back in to it. Besides which, I'm due for a new
computer and I don't like the current offerings from Dell. Would you
guys please take a look at my proposed system and tell me what you
think:

RAIDMAX SMILODON ATX-612WBP Black SECC STEEL ATX Mid Tower Computer
Case 500W Power Supply

GIGABYTE GA-M61P-S3 Socket AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 ATX AMD Motherboard

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4000+ Brisbane 2.1GHz Socket AM2 Processor Model
ADO4000DDBOX

Patriot eXtreme Performance 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
(PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model PDC22G6400LLK

Western Digital Caviar SE WD800JD 80GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard
Drive

SAMSUNG 18X DVD±R DVD Burner With 12X DVD-RAM Write, LightScribe
Technology Black SATA Model SH-S183L

I plan on ordering 2 hard drives for RAID 0.

Thanks in advance,
Bill

You mention the psu like it is a $11 fdd. A good psu is required
these days. I'd recommend Enermax, maybe Antec or there's always Pc
Power and Cooling.

It's included with the case. It's a Raidmax RX-500S.

The case looks very accessible although I am not a fan of doors on the
front. I'm not familiar with the brand, is Raidmax a known reliable PSU?
I'm a few years out of date on parts and brands myself but the PSU is the
most important part of a build, if it isn't stable and reliable, neither
will the system be.

Like I said above, you think you're getting something good, but nobody
here has ever heard of that brand of psu. I'd put it on the shelf to
sell or use in something much less demanding and buy a real one for a
system I planned to use.
