Same thing here
I got the board because <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.tomshardware.com" target="_blank">www.tomshardware.com</a> said is rocked. But what
I found out later was that Tom got a rev 1 version of the board before
Gigabyte locked down every thing. I ended up with a rev 2.2 or
something like that and you can't play with the AGP/PCI speeds they
follow the FSB. The sad thing is that I can run my 2.4Ghz/533 at
2.8Ghz with the FSB set to the max of the board 156 if I boot from a
floppy and run a RAM test. I have the Kingston PC1066 ram as well but
I got a bad set the 1st time around I could not run them at 134 FSB!!
So I needed a way to test the free replacements (got to love the life
time warranty). I ran the system off the floppy 24hrs strait at 2.8Ghz
with out a error. But if you try and boot off the hard disk and do any
thing real with this MB you will find that you end up back at 140 FSB
to get it stable. I find that Ever Quest is a killer test app for
reliability, cuz if you can run EQ you can run just about any thing!
Fast system for its day but it is a year old now and with the FSB
stuck at 140 the new 800Mhz FSB systems with their 2xDDR ram and 3Ghz+
cpu's are looking mighty fine.
