I am building a system with a KW7 mobo but the power supply I have for
it, an Enermax EG565P-VE FMA, may not match. The KW7 has two attachments
for the power supply, a 20-pin ATXPWR1 and a 4-pin ATX12V1. The power
supply has a single ATX 12V V2.0 24-pin connector, which can be split
between the 20-pin and 4-pin parts simply by unhooking each part from
the other on the connector.

Will my power supply work with my mobo, or do I need to get an ATX 12v
V1.0 power supply instead ? Looking at the description of the pins on
the mobo and the power supply, the pins look similar but not the same,
but I suspect the diagram in my Enermax manual may be just wrong. Is the
ATX 12V V2.0 backwards compatible with the ATX 12V V1.0 ?

It "fits" but I shoved it in and it probably is not right. I was
wondering why it did not seem right <g>. I hope I did not damage
anything in that 4-pin ATX12V1 connector on the mobo, but I think I am
alright since I had not yet turned on the power.

Yes, you are correct. The wire colors from the Enermax are as above.

Ah, that's what that adapter in the Enermax kit is all about. Thanks for
waking me up on this. I already have it. Now it fits nicely on both ends.

Packed with your power supply should be the correct 8-pin to 4-pin
connector-adapter for ATX12V1. I have the EG565AX-VE and it does have
the adapter - I am using it. The pictures on the Enermax website for
both power-supplies (P and AX) incorrectly show the 4-pin ATX12V1
connector and do not show the 8-pin connector at all....although the
text says 8-pins !! Did you accidentally misplace your adapter ???

No, I found it and have it connected properly now. See my other reply in
this thread ro someone else about it. I would not say that Enermax's
picture of connections in the booklet are exactly great. Also there are
only 7 4-pin mole connectors with the power supply and since I need two
for the two large fans of my case, an Aero Cool Spiral Galaxies, that
leaves just 5 4-pin moles for many other devices that traditionally need
power. It is probably enough, though, since there are plenty of SATA
connectors on the power supply also as well as a couple of floppy disk
connectors and some PCI-E 16X connectors.

Thanks for the heads up, but someone else also alerted me earlier to
that 8-pin to 4-pin connector that came as part of the PSU. For whatever
reason I did not understand what it was for, because I did not
understand the difference between ATX 12V V1 and ATX 12V V2. It is not
exactly explained well in the booklet. The booklet also mentions a
separate 4-pin 12V power connector off of the PSU, but it is actually an
8-pin connector also.
