Question - for a basic home computer user who typically uses inexpensive
printers, does it matter what type of cable is used? I buy them online for
$2 or $3, and don't have any apparant problem with them, and yet I see them
in the stores, in their gold plated splendor, looking like some kind of
space age wonder cable for what seem to me to be ridiculous prices.

Do these $20 to $35 cables have any value over the cheapies I can get
online?

Thanks,

Jack

You'd be surprised...one of the handiest printer cables I've ever purchased
I got for 69 cents at Fry's...it is one of the few generic cables I've ever
gotten with all the wires connected (normally you have to pay extra for an
IEEE-1284 cable to get that but newer, bi-directional printers require
them).

The more expensive cables have better shielding for longer lengths of cable
to avoid data corruption.

for a printer cable it won`t make a lick of difference what cable you
use....
a printer cable is just a printer cable , big deal....

Best cable I ever got was from the Dollar Store... it's incredibly thin, 3
feet in length, which is all I need when traveling with my laptop...
