I think the performance and general operating features are tied
together and you either get good frame rates or poor / NO
functionality in the video overlay / font / desktop rendering.
I think Nvidia is getting to caught up in the frame rate game and have
lost site of the big picture and they will have people, such as
myself, going backwards until they sort it out.
The big problem is the nice Nview features in the forceware drivers
makes the use of the TV out and other NON GAMING type features easy to
use so there is merit in moving forward.
The stick with what you happy with line may be fine for some, but with
new driver releases are bug fixes, even if Nvidia is not willing to
admit to them, that are needed for some people.
Oh, and the performance comment, I think performance is a measure of
the WHOLE functionality of the driver, not just the OpenGL or DirectX
