Post subject: Problem with M55 and PCIe-x1 Radeon
Archived from groups: comp>sys>ibm>pc>hardware>video (more info?)

Hello,

I have an IBM/Lenovo M55 (Type 8807),
which has one expansion slot,
reachable through a flippable riser card.
This riser card has a PCI Express x1 slot on one side,
and a normal PCI slot on the other side.

I already used the PCIe-x1 side to connect
the IBM ADD2 DVI-I adapter card successfully,
and this also works fine with my TFT.

However I wanted somewhat more graphics power
than the onboard GMA3000 can deliver,
so I bought one of these rare PCIe-x1 Radeon X1300 cards,
made or at least distributed by H.I.S.

But unfortunately the monitor doesn't show any pictures
when conneced to the Radeon.
I have the feeling that the built-in GMA3000 doesn't
pass control to the external card, even if the BIOS setting
for the primary video card is set to automatic.

I updated the M55 to the latest BIOS yesterday.
Should I also try to reset the CMOS?

Are there any known issues regarding the M55 and external video cards?

Thanks

Ray
