I have a K7S5A board and am using Win98.

Problem I am having is that I cannot get my microphone to work
properly. With the mute box for the microphone on the control panel
unchecked, I can hear (thru the speakers) what I say into the
microphone. However, when I try to record my voice using Sound
Recorder I get nothing.

I have reinstalled Sound Recorder, reinstalled the SiS 7012 audio
drivers.

Anyone have any other ideas for fixing this problem?

That's the problem. You may think it's arse-about-face but you need to
mute the Mic on playback so you can record but enable it on record.
This is because most PC sound chips and cards have an anti-feedback
circuit and don't want the sound coming out of the speakers feeding
back into the mic.
You don't need to hear your voice out of the speakers anyway.

Open Volume Control, go to Options, Properties, under "Adjust volume for"
select Recording, under "Show the following volume controls" make sure
Microphone is ticked, then click OK.

Volume Control should change to Recording Control, tick the box to select
Microphone as the recording source. Try recording. If level is too low,
select Advanced and tick the Microphone Boost box under "Other Controls".

Hope that helps.

Thank you all for your help. Going to the recording side of Volume
Control and selecting microphone did the trick Smile
