That's the problem.You may think it's arse-about-face but you need to
mute the Mic on playback so you can record but enable it on record.
This is because most PC sound chips and cards have an anti-feedback
circuit and don't want the sound coming out of the speakers feeding
back into the mic.
You don't need to hear your voice out of the speakers anyway.
