I have a Windows XP system running on a KR7A-Raid mb with AMD XP 1900+ and
512mb stick of PC2100 Muskin RAM and a Nvidia G-Force Ti500.
The system regularly has a problem where after 5 to 50 minutes of use, it
locks up. Upon reboot, I typically get a CMS Checksum error and have to go
back and manually reset all my BIOS settings. After which, the system will
boot up and run again (for anywhere from 5 to 50 minutes) before it locks
up again.
I've tried flashing my BIOS (version Cx I think?), and even completely
reinstalling Windows XP several times and all service packs & updates.
Even "vanilla" (no other sopftware installed) the system locks up.
More reciently, the system will tell me that a new hard drive is detected &
insatlled (with a funky corrupted name) just prior to locking up.
If I run a checkdisk, it locks up during the bootup process or during the
checkdisk. Often, locking up & rebooting during the checkdisk will corrupt
my Windows XP installation. It tells me that a NLS file is bad & I need to
repair it from CD (which never works) or to reinstall windows.
Any idea what is causing this? Is this a common problem for Abit KR7a-
Raids?

Thanks in advance. >> Stay informed about: Problems with KR7A-Raid system |
