I trying to build me a new comp with NF7S motherboard and Maxtor S-ATA
disk. The first time I boot it from my CD-rom(win XP pro), it could
not find the HDD. Now I can see it in Raid contr. When I boot now I
can't get acess to BIOS, it stop afer it display "Verifying DMI Pool
data "

Are you by any chance running a pci graphics card?...If so remove the SATA
drive and upgrade the bios from a bootable floppy...There was a known issue
relating to this on earlier bios revisions.

THis may seem retarded, and I apologize if you have done this.
COnnect your HD if possible via the IDE Cable, or plug in an old IDE
hard drive. Install the SATA drivers that came with the Mobo, then
shutdown, plug in your s-ata drive and try again.

WHen i first tried booting without the install of the drivers, it
would recognize a hard drive in the RAID config, but not in the boot
sequence. Once I had installed the drivers, everything was hunk-dory.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Or try this, just found it on another thread by Mark H.:
"...hit F6 to load additional drivers when loading WinXp - you'll need
the sata drivers on the floppy disk."

I haven't tried the f6 thing, but it sounds like it should work
without having to plug your HD into the IDE channel like I had earlier
suggested.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

The 'F6 thing' is the standard way to load drivers while installing
XP....however drivers are not gonna help if the system cant get past
'Verifying DMI pool data'.

Ah, now I understand. Very true, but my first suggestion might work
about swapping to the IDE path and then installing SATA drivers.
