Gents,

Would this processor be a good choice for my IC7-G?

Pentium 4 2.60Ghz, 1.525v, system bus 800Mhz, 512Kb L2 Cache, 478pkg.
Product Code BX80532PG2600D SL6WS.

I know from reading previous posts that the 2.6c is a good choice for
the board so guess I just want to make sure that's what this CPU is.
Thanks.

Provided you're going to overclock it, yep, either this, the 2.4C or the
2.8C are about the best Pentium 4's available right now. Which one you'd
choose depends largely on what sort of memory you've got (or are going to
get).

The spec you've listed certainly is of a 2.6C. To get the best out of the
resulting system though, you're going to need the best PC4000 or, even
better, PC4400 memory you can get your hands on. It's likely to get to
250MHz FSB without needing silly/noisy cooling, and may end up going quite a
bit further than that.

Hi,

That was the first P4 CPU I bought. Decent enough chip at stock, but my one
doesn't like overclocking that much, got it to 3GHz using 1.6vCore. I
bought another CPU (2.8Ghz m0 stepping) and that runs at 3.5GHz using stock
vCore, but have it running at 3.6GHz using 1.6vCore, great CPU!

Of course its the luck of the draw, maybe I got unlucky with the 2.6GHz? but
I think the 2.8GHz is the best best!
