Post subject: Profile,Calibrate or BOTH
Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>videocards>nvidia (more info?)

I am trying to do soft-proofing using CMS, PI8, and
nVidia driver that has sliders 4 blk & white points &
RGB gamma curves. I have a HP supplied monitor profile
& I have done calibration process b4 as per
http://epaperpress.com/monitorcal/ but never had a
monitor profile

Using app ProfileInspector @
http://www.color.org/membersonly/profileinspector.html
it looks like profiles contain blk & white points & RGB
gamma curves, the same things u r setting by
calibrating.

As often happens wih CMS, I dont know whether to sh*t
or go blind Smile Namely , do I install Profile in CM,
Calibrate or BOTH(in what order)?

BTW description of how CMS works that has numerical
examples but doesnt tell the gory detail of how color
space conversion matrices were derived is @
http://www.creativepro.com/story/feature/13605-2.html

Your help is MUCH appreciated. Thanks- bye- Larry

Any advise is my attempt to contribute more than I have received but I can only assure you that it works on my PC. GOOD LUCK.
