There is no "over 3GB windows bug". The reason why Windowsxp (like W2k
and Vista 32bit) can't see all of the 4GB is not a Windows problem. In
fact, the BIOS reserves a certain amount of memory for peripheral I/O
(i.e. gfx card, PCI cards etc). This reserved memory is located just
below the first 4GB of memory, it's size depends on the installed
hardware (usually around 256-700MB) and it's not available to any OS at
all (neither Windows, Linux or any other).
Newer systems support a new memory scheme which lifts the I/O address
space just above the installed physical memory to make all physical
memory available to the OS. But this requires not only a BIOS capable of
this, it also requires an OS that supports this new memory scheme.
Windowsxp Pro doesn't.
But other than that you loose some memory 4GB work just fine within
Windowsxp...
