Have a new 22" Widescreen LCD with a 1680x1050 native resolution hooked up
to my PowerSpec 2.53GHz PC with Windows XP.

Unfortunately, the Radeon 9600 will not play back video over DVI. Windows
comes up at 1680x1050 but I only get audio with WatchHDTV (TV tuner). Just
a black screen, unless I try 640x480.

I am able to get video over VGA.

Do I need to get a different card for video over DVI at 1680x1050 or are
there tweaks for this card?

I previously posted about a Nvidia 5200 and incredible there seems to be a
workaround for that card

Whichi Monitor did you buy?

I have a Samsung Syncmaster 226BW and I can't for the life of me get
DVI to work at all. Not on my 9800XT or my X1950 Pro...

Fry's had a $110 off promition + $20 rebate + printer which brought the
price to $179 including the printer without DVI cable (which I already
had).

9800XT does not list 1680x1050 in the specs
http://ati.amd.com/products/radeon9800/radeon9800pro/specs.html

Maybe the X1950 supports the same resolutions.

No...both cards do support this resolution as I have used them both.
When I say I cannot get DVI to work I mean in any res...even the
lowest.

These specs describe max refresh freqs and not resolutions!
