Post subject: Using the Raid-Controller (promise) on the 845E-Max2 as additional IDE-controll
Archived from groups: alt>comp>periphs>mainboard>msi-microstar (more info?)

hi friends!

I've found some articles about that but I have to ask it again because
the answers were different. I want to use my Raid-Controller on my MSI
845E-Max2 as additional IDE-Controller because I need the regular
IDE-Controller for my DVD/CDR-Drives.

I've read that this should be no problem but some tell that I have to
use a modified BIOS for the RAID-Controller which I can get here:
http://www.anycities.com/user/mainboards/msi/msi.html and some others
told, that they only pluged the exisiting harddisks on the RAID and
everything worked perfectly.

Now my question: Do I need to use a modified BIOS? And Why (not)?

Thanks and greetings,
Jens
