I have a Matrox G400. I do not believe that it has DVI. I just purchased
an 18" LCD monitor. I would like to get the most from this monitor, and
understood that a card with DVI would be better than just VGA.

Could someone recommend a good 2D card? I do not play games, use the
computer for business apps and for Internet use.

Thanks!

You could get a newer Matrox card with a DVI output. You might also
look for a low-end ATI Radeon card with DVI, such as a 7500.

Do you have an opinion on the Matrox 550 as opposed to the ATI Radeon?

I would prefer the Matrox card over the ATI card for straight 2D
applications; somewhat more mature drivers and related applets. If you
might use a dual monitor setup then the Matrox is clearly superior.
The Radeon will be slightly cheaper and has much better 3D performance
(which probably is of no benefit to you).

I will probably look at the Matrox then. $80 is a ballpark price for what I
see.
