I have an S1834 system with dual Pent 3 processors, bare bones (per Tyan
FAQS), no other periphs installed. I have installed W2K Pro. It appears to
install fine, but when it restarts I get "Error loading operating system".

I have verified the OS installed and run repair and have reinstalled the OS.

I have run W2K diagnostics and it tells me Windows 2000 could not start
because the follwoing is missing or corrupt. <Windows 2000
root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe, however I have verified that file exists where
it is supposed to be and that is is not corrupt.

The hard drive was previouly used for another OS, however it was wiped
before re-use.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Go through the windows reinstall process and select "Recovery Console" from
the installation menu. That will dump you to a command prompt where you can
use FIXMBR and FIXBOOT to repair the Master Boot Record and the Boot Sector,
respectively. It sounds like your boot sector is messed up.

Note: If you have a SATA or SCSI card, you'll need to do the F6 thing to
install those drivers.

I have the same kind of problem with my s1854 and other computer too.

The fixmbr and fixboot didn't work, (XP or 2k) and the fixboot didn't even
complete.

My hard drives are IDEs and I suspect that the mbr and boot sector has been
infected. I have tried every possible method I know and all failed to wipe
the virus out. The other computer is K7SEM..

I tried to clear cmos data and flash the bios on both computers, after the
flashing, the s1854 (bin file s1854 v107) could not reboot due to the
failure of the bios process.

The K7SEM could boot but still no idea how to clean the virus on MBR and
boot sector, cause it effectively infected the cmos right away.

Any idea how to get rid of virus on the MB and ide drives would be greatly
appreciated.
