Hi,
I just built the following system:
S2665 Main Board
A+GPB 500W EPS-12V Power Supply
Thermaltake Xaser III V1000 Tower Case
(2) 2.4 GHz Xeon Processors (533 FSB)
(2) ATP 1024 MB PC2100 (AG28L64C8SMB0S) in DIMM 1 & 2
ATI FireGL Z1 Graphics Card (AGP 4X/8X)
Promise SX4000 ATA Raid 5 Card (tried in PCI-X Slot B w/jumper on J31 to
allow PCI-2.2 Compatibility...also tried in PCI32-bin/33Mhz slot)
(1) Western Digital 80 GB Caviar on mainboard IDE Primary as master
(3) Western Digital 160 GB Caviar drives on Promise SX4000
(1) Plextor CD-RW on mainboard IDE Secondary as master
(1) Sony SDM-P232W 23" Flat Panel Display
Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse
So, the plan is to have a high-performance workstation that also performs as
a server to my business partner through a gigabit switch (this way, we only
have files in one location).
I put in all the components and turned on the system. It performed the
memory test, identified the BIOS and processors. It allowed me to enter the
BIOS. I set the boot order and exited. Then, the system went to the
Promise BIOS, but the drives were not recognized.
All this would be fine, since I probably just need to set the drive jumpers
correctly, but now this is what happened:
I turned off the system (power switch on case) and disconnected the power
switch. I changed some drive jumpers around, and now when I hook the power
up again and turn on the system, I get no display at all.
I tried:
1.) Reset CMOS - no effect
2.) remove cards and re-install - no effect
3.) remove memory and try booting with no memory - beeps, but no display
The only time I was able to get a display again, was one time when I pushed
the reset button on the case. The system rebooted, but it only got to 577MB
on the memory test before it locked up.
I'm completely stumped, and quite frustrated. I don't believe there are any
compatibility issues. Everything appears to be installed correctly. The
memory, processors and power supply are all from the compatibility list on
the Tyan website. My specific graphics card is not listed, but other
similar models by ATI are.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm considering getting a
different graphics card, just to see if that's the problem, but I'm a little
sceptical.
Thanks,
Tonio >> Stay informed about: S2665 - No Display on Boot-up |

I pared the system down to the processors, memory and graphics card. Still
no output...even after CMOS reset.
Bought an ATI Radeon 9200 today and put it in (on the list of compatible
graphics cards). Still no display...again, after CMOS reset.
I requested an RMA from the vendor to get the board replaced.

Tyan 1854 PCI vs AGP video card boot - Hello all, I have scoured the web and usenet for an answer to this, but to no avail. I just bought a used computer that has a Tyan 1854 motherboard. I have an old AGP video card (SiS 6326 chipset of some sort) and figured I could use it to get dual.. |
