As long as its the kind of Xeon supported by Tyan on their website's
support list, it should work in single mode. Check the manual to make
sure you're plugging into the primary socket.

Probably it will. Remember though, if you are using a Microsoft OS, it may
not boot if you add another CPU in the future. The OS may build itself with
the single CPU HAL, and you'll have to reload the HAL manually from a system
recovery disk before you can go on. (At least that used to be the case
under NT, and it was a painful process.)
