I am new to Gigabyte (Asus was my brand for a while). Just put together a
8KNXP Ultra with 2 Cheetahs for the Raid bootable WindowsXP and one IDE
drive for data. The small problem I have has to do with booting on the SCSI
where there is a slow boot for about 5-10 seconds during initial part of the
boot process. Somehow this is related with having the IDE drive. Disabling
the IDE drive makes no difference but if I unplug it from the data cable,
all is well and the boot process is normal. I know that the system uses the
IDE MBR record to boot to the SCSI because the same problem existed with the
ASUS mobo and additionally, if I uses Drive Image (the window version) to
make image of my SCSI drive, the Drive Image would not create the image if
there is no MBR on the IDE. Please do not suggest to me to change the boot
order to start with SCSI because I already have it set (I am an old-timer
that have been putting systems together since CP/M 1.3).
(does this make any sense?)
