I recently pruchased this and configured it with Win XP (SP1). I also
installed the latest 2.45 nforce drivers from nvidia. However, when I insert
a USB (1.1) pen drive in any of the sockets, XP detects it, freezes and then
automatically reboots the system!

When I check device manager, the USB controller is listed as Standard PCI
USB HCI. Should this not read USB 2.0 controller?

System Spec is SN41G2 with:

AMD 2500+ (Barton)
Corsair 512MB PC2700
Lite-On 52x CDRW
40GB Maxtor Plus 8 HD
Windows XP (SP1)

I did that but it made very little difference.

That's what I had but it made XP freeze before causing the PC to reboot.
I've also tried to uninstall all these devices so that XP redetects them
automatically but I still get the same effect.

I've since reverted to Win 2000 SP4 (+ updates) and it all works fine?! Go
figure! I still like to have XP installed though.

On my SB61G2 Shuttle, I have the same problems. It seems there is a
difference between the frontside USB and backside USB ports. I can use the
backside ones without problem. The frontside USB ports are useless. Trying
to get the pc card reader PC12 to work didn't succeed. It connects to the
USB4 port on the motherboard. Probably the same problem.
Reading that it works fine with Windows 2000 make my worry that this is a XP
problem........

Regards, Rudi
