SS51 vs SB51 Noise

I built a SS51 for a friend about a year ago. More recently I have bought a
SB51G for myself. (Both used P4 1.8As overclocked to 2.4GHz).

Is it my memory, or was/is the fan on the SS51G notably louder? Also I
recall it used to kick up to high speed routinely on the SS51, whereas my
SB51 never does.

Anyone got any experience to offer?

I think you are right. I build up 2 SS51's and 1 SB51.. the SB51 is better.
I put in a new variable fan, normal speed is 1300 RPM.. very quiet.. goes to
4800 (as I recall) at full speed. Sometimes the fan kicks into the next
higher speed, and I'm happy to hear this as I know it's working.
