I just got one of these and installed RedHat 9 (Shrike).

I have a few issues:

1) cannot get the drive to use DMA:

[root@shuttle Sound]# hdparm -d /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
using_dma = 0 (off)
[root@shuttle Sound]# hdparm -d 1 /dev/hda

/dev/hda:
setting using_dma to 1 (on)
HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted
using_dma = 0 (off)

2) no driver for the onboard video (ATI Radeon IGP9100) -> I haven't
tried *that hard* yet to get this to work

3) sound - I've found a number of references, including a link on
RealTek's www site; none of the modules that I built will load

I'm not expecting answers for everything; it's probably that this
particular chipset combo is a little too new. I've build a 2.6.1
kernel, but to no avail.

I can go to pretty much any linux distro (the end-goal is a nice
HTPC); has anyone had any success?

thx,
LS

Did you add the next option to /etc/modules.conf? It is required for dma. If
not, add the next line to this file.

options ide-cd dma=1

Oops..overlooked the "hda", the options above is for cd/dvd players, so
might not be the answer to your question then :-/
