Motherboard: MSI K7T-266Pro-2RU
Processor: AMD 2000+
Memory: 512MB RAM
Graphics Card: Radeon VE, driver -
wxp-w2k-radeon-7-83-030120a1-007447c-efg.exe
Audio Card: Soundblaster Live.
Raid: On-board using 30GB Seagate drive
Opsys: Windows 2000 Professional
Sun Java: JRE 1.4.1_01
When I close all my Internet Explorer windows, the last window causes
the opsys to crash with the following error:
*** STOP: 0x00000050 (0xE2782DC0, 0x00000000, 0xBB822FB4, 0x00000001)
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
*** Adress BB822FB4 base at BB7D3000, Datestamp 3e2cb877 -
ati3d1ag.dll
Just in case anyone comes across this problem the solution that worked
for me is downloading a new version of JRE 1.4.1_03 and installing it
on top of JRE 1.4.1_01.
The reason I did this is many of the people that posted this issue on
the message boards also had JRE 1.4.1; however, they did not specify
if they had JRE 1.4.1_01.
I tried a parameter(-Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true) to control the java
plugin and the opsys crashed with the same error when I tried to close
the Java Control Panel. So I went for the next step which was install
a newer version on top of the current one as recommended in the Sun
Java Forum and my problem is solved. I can no longer reproduce the
issue. Apparently the JRE 1.4.1_01 was having an issue on the way it
was communicating to ATI graphic cards. Unfortunately, I can not say
ATI's latest driver would help as the installation fails each time,
but that is another story. >> Stay informed about: *** STOP: 0x00000050 (0xE2782DC0, 0x00000000, 0xBB822FB4, .. |

This won't cure the problem directly, but you might want to try using an
alternative browser like Firebird. You can find it at:
<a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firebird/" target="_blank">http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firebird/</a>
If it still happens with Firebird, dig a little deeper for the software
issue.

That's a driver issue. STOP 0x50 is almost always a driver issue, and
the location in ati3d1ag confirms it. Make sure you have the latest
drivers from ATI. I don't know the version numbers, sine I don't have
an ATI card.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: *** STOP: 0x00000050 (0xE2782DC0, 0x00000000, 0xBB822FB4, .. |
