I have a Soyo KT333 Dragon Ultra Platinum. The tiny fan that sits on a
tiny heatsink over the VIA KT333 northbridge chip needs to be replaced.
I cannot find any specs for this fan on Soyo or Via websites. Neither
company has returned my emails.

What fan specs do I need to get when I order a replace this fan? It
attaches to a 3 pin power connector on the motherboard. I've looked at
NewEgg & TigerDirect but need help narrowing down what I need.

Thanks

just replace with a small Zalman passive heatsink, or any 40 mm fan,
or skip the fan unless you overclock those chips dont get too hot
anyway. you could remove the motherboard from case, remove heatsink,
apply fresh white thermal grease, clean heatsink and attach. If your
case has good air flow you should be fine. Those fans are a gimmick
really, what fsb are you running ? if 133 or 266 DDR ram then skip the
fan. I run two soyo pluses, one KT266A and a KT400 and when the fan goes
then that is what I am gonna do. Now my 400 fsb Abit is a different story.

I'm running a single (soon to be double) stick of 133 ddr ram (pc2100).
Ventilation is ok but not ideal thanks to IDE cable management issues.
I don't overclock my system.

Thanks for the suggestions. There is a tiny heatsink beneath the fan.
I think I'll remove that annoying fan - run the system hard for 30
minutes - and see how hot the northbridge VIA KT333 makes the little
heatsink. If not, I'll need to follow your advice. Hope the current
heatsink is easy to remove.

Thanks.
