I just recently purchased this board. A first purchase of a Soyo for me, it
runs fine and I am pleased with the performance. Just a weird squeaking
noise at powerdown. This is not at shutdown of Windows, but if the power is
turned off at the rear of the machine, or powerbar.

Really different.

Cheers,

Alan

That's just the motherboard telling you that all voltage has been cut. If
the KT400 Dragon Lite is like the KT400 Dragon Ultra there's also a green
LED that shows voltage (5v) is still on the mobo. Look inside to see if
you've got the LED also. Drove me nuts 'til Denny clued me in Wink

Yes I also noticed the light. I hope you are right, this squeak really had
me concerned?!
I would prefer this to be an option in the BIOS.

1. Squeak
2. KB and optical mouse lights - if KB/on feature is not desired, it should
be more energy efficient than remaining on.

My 2 cents.

Thanks,

Alan

I believe there is a BIOS setting to turn off the keyboard LED. It has to do
with the option to power on the system by using a hot key on the key board.
Found it once, but can't remember exact setting. It's in the Power
Management Setup if I recall correctly.

But that was such a short drive, Frank. <g>

Yes I have found it in the BIOS, my point was that the squeak and KB power
lights should not remain on unless I enable the KB/wakeup option in the
BIOS.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

it happens on mine also, KT400 Dragon ultra platnum.
regardless of the setting it will squeak only when you shut the toggle
switch in the back. i consider it a safety measure for when im tinkering
with the insideds of the case, and make shure its PSU toggled down for
addeding removing drives, and other stuff.

the squeak wont hurt anything. and its not a bios setting to squeak or not
to squeak to my understanding.

Perhaps instead of a squeak a voice should say, "Your computer will
now not turn on while you are installing or removing hardware"
