I have a Sumsung 940N LCD monitor.
It does not work correctly in text mode, i.e. under MS-DOS,
Windows booting, Linux boot floppy ....
About one and a half characters are missing on the left-hand
side of the screen.
(However the BIOS setup seems to display correctly).
In any graphics mode, the display is correct - fills the
screen without losing anything at edges.
It is driven by NVidia FX5200 card. With an old CRT monitor,
text modes displayed properly without chopping off the start
of each line.
Is there some jiggery pokery that can shift the display in text
mode to fix this problem?

Did you press the button on the monitor that resyncs it?

Check your monitor for position adjustments. Most monitors have memories
for mulitple screen modes. Standard 80x25 text is 720x400@70Hz. Just go
full-screen and make the adjustments using your monitor's menus. For
most, just wait a few seconds, and it will store the settings.

Is that in Europe?
I'm used to it being 640 x 480 @60Hz here in the USA.

720x400@70 is the TEXT mode resolution. 640x480 is a graphic resolution.
I think it may also be used for 80x60 text mode.
