I'm trying to disable the 'back' and 'forward' keys on an IBM USB with
UltraNav keyboard using the W2K Scan Code Mapper. It doesn't seem to be
working which leads me to believe that either I don't have the correct scan
codes or I'm not disabling them correctly. I'm mapping E06A and E069 to
0000, assuming those values based on other common keyboard scancodes for
back and forward.
Does anyone know if E06A/9 are the right scan codes for back and forward on
this kbd? Will mapping a key to 0000 disable it? My .reg file is:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout]
"Scancode Map" =hex:00,00,00,00, 00,00,00,00, 03,00,00,00, \
00,00,6a,e0, 00,00,69,e0, 00,00,00,00
I've also tried it as:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout]
"Scancode Map" =hex:00,00,00,00, 00,00,00,00, 03,00,00,00, \
6a,e0,00,00, 69,e0,00,00, 00,00,00,00
Thanks, Paul >> Stay informed about: Scancodes for IBM USB with UltraNav |

Won't work for USB... sorry.
From what I can tell, USB keyboards skip the scancode stage and the driver
creates system messages straight off.
I've used the scancode mapper for my Logitech keyboard, but it doesn't work
when I plug it into the USB port, only the PS2 port.

The scancode is embedded in the system message, along with other info... but
the scancode mapper happens just after the i8042 stuff, AFAIK.
