Screening monitor

I have to have my computer and monitor quite close together. There's a
yellow band down the side of the screen, presumably due to the
magnetic effect of the computer. If I move the computer somewhere I
don't want it, it disappears.

Is there any way I can screen the monitor (no pun intended)? Only
externally, of course - I don't want to open any boxes.

Place a large iron plate between the computer and monitor.
If this problem is really as you describe you have either some component in the computer that has an unusually strong magnetic field or else your monitor is unusually sensitive to interference.
