I'm trying to get my new AOC 2216SW wide 22" screen to work with
1440X900 resolution on may Thinkpad R52 which is using Intel 915GM/GMS,
910GML chipset.
Documentation claims that it supports 1440X900 resolution as follows:
WXGA+ 1440 x 900 55.935 60.0
WXGA+ 1440 x 900 55.469 60.0
I can't get this option to appear on the screen resolution settings.
I tried setting this as PowerStrip custom resolution but the setting
is not accepted and I have no idea how to choose the right parameters.
Any help is welcomed (my eyes are burning from trying the read the
tiny letter of the 1680X1050 resolution).
Thanks,

Your numbers are for a normal screen. He says he has a wide screen
monitor, which should handle 1400 x 900. Maybe the Thinkpad driver
can't handle that.

They aren't *my numbers* but the manufacturers.

Specs on AOC web site indeed don't show 1440 x 900, but documentation
on the enclosed CD does.
1680X1050 is just too damn small, even with large fonts.
I agree it must be a problem with the driver and / or onboard graphic
card, but there must be a way to overcome this using PowerStrip.

1680x1050 is the native resolution. That is what you should be running at.

I have the latest driver for the 915GM/GMS 910GML chipset and I also
tried the drivers from the AOC enclosed CD.
I agree this isn't odd size but non of the standard methods seem to
work.

Dig around for different versions of your display drivers. That isn't a very
odd size, so it should be available without the need for Powerstrip, et al. >> Stay informed about: Setting 1440X900 resolution with AOC 2216SW |

I have an AOC 22 widescreeen, it supports 1440x900 though 1280x1024 is a
better fallback. Since your monitor is using the optimal, it's probably
an issue with the PowerStrip custom settings, or your calculations for
the timing (55.935 60.0) it should be higher. Try http://koala.ilog.fr/
cgi-bin/nph-colas-modelines for refresh rate calculations.
But maybe the PowerStrip custom settings will allow you to change the
dots per inch to dpi=96, that should increase the screen's font size at
1680x105@60. >> Stay informed about: Setting 1440X900 resolution with AOC 2216SW |
