Archived from groups: comp>sys>ibm>pc>hardware>storage (more info?)

are these just simple trays/rails that you attach to any SATA drive?

looking at a new server

IBM's, in particular the 206m (specifically the 8485-12U)

the one i am looking at doesnt come with harddrives
i dont want the IBM "simple-swap SATA II" ...they are only 7200rpm
i want to put 10k Raptors in there
the IBM docs are confusing on the drive b/c is says: interface type -
Ultra 320 SCSI ...might be a typo
https://www-132.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catal...d=-840&

so i am wondering if it is nothing more than slide rails that attach to
any SATA drives???

TIA

good find, i figured they were "top IBM secret"...lol

but really: taking off a panel, disconnecting 2 cables, and removing 4
screws saves you what... 2 minutes???
