Archived from groups: comp>sys>ibm>pc>hardware>cd-rom (more info?)

I own a Sony CRX160E and after a bunch messing and searching around I
figured out how to get it to work in XP and suspect the solution is
similar for 2000.

1>Open Device Manager
2>Tree-Open the "DVD/CDROM Drives"
3>Choose and Open Properties on the "Sony CD-RW CRX160E" Drive
(In the Properties Window)
4>Choose the Driver Tab
5>Click the "Update Driver..." Button
(Hardward Wizard Window Opens)
6>Choose "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)"
7>Click Next
8>Choose "Don't search I will choose the driver to install"
9>Click Next
(The Menu should change and show several Generic CDROM Driver Options)
10>Select "CD-ROM Drive (force CDDA accurate)"
11>Then Click Next, OK and all that Jazz....

Then try the CDRW Drive out.
This worked for me and it took me long enough that I felt others
should know.
