I've been wondering for a long time now just what the hell the spread
spectrum setting i've encountered in various BIOSes throughout recent years
does, specifically in my latest motherboard, the original DFI NForce2
Lanparty Ultra II's GENIE bios.

There's also another setting, CPU Thermal Throttling. I have no idea what it
does, but i've left it at the default 50%.
I wish there was some sort of explanation for how the GENIE bios works on
DFI's website, but I guess you can't have everything.

search for cpu thermal throttling.
