When I boot up, I get an error message that states that I have a missing or
corrupted file: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM
How do I go about reinstalling this file under the repair options from the
WindowsXP Pro disk?

You can do a repair by just booting from your Win XP CD and when you
get an option to install or repair choose repair - probably just press
"R" and it'll take care of itself.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

You can't use system restore if you can't get in to Windows.
