What kind of memory do you have? I recently had a freezing problem though
not nearly as bad as what you're describing. Mine came from trying to use
pc-133 memory with an XP2000+ cpu. My Shuttle ak32l has two slots each for
pc-133 and DDR. The pc133 worked fine with a slower Athlon 1.1gig cpu but
couldn't keep up with the faster XP2000 I upgraded to. Freezes vanished
when I replaced it with a stick of DDR memory.
Another thing that's possible since you mention having to unplug the system
completely is the Power Supply may not be putting out enough continuous
voltage to power the system and keep it stable.
