I have a coolermaster HHC-L61 heatpipe HSF.

I had this connected to a Barton 2500+ running non-overclocked for
most of the time. This worked fine for 6 months running at approx 60
degrees, but while putting my system into a new case I managed to fry
the CPU - i`m not sure whether I simply didn`t seat the HSF or whether
it was simply co-incidence. While putting a new CPU in I noticed on
the HSF box only said "Athlon XP 2200 and higher".

Does anybody know what the top end actually is and whether it is
likely to cope a 2500 & with O/Cing the 2500 to 200FSB (3200
equivalent)?

Interestingly I got a replacement Barton under guarantee and it seems
to run 20+ degrees cooler at 40 degrees in a smaller case with less
fans!

Same HS but updated with 90deg elbow, 60mm-80mm carborator adaptor,
and 80mm 10K variable speed fan. Best I've used. 2100 AMD XP
overclocked to 2600 for going on a year. 105F would be average for 85
ambient temperature. The P4 version of this HS is more substaintial
and massive. I wish mine had a 3-prong retainer - nice to find a
substitute 3-way clip someday. Isn't exactly a firm mate to the CPU
socket with all the extras I've loaded ontop. I'd use mine with a
Barton, no problem. My midtower case is both side 80mm intake and top
vented. Fortran 2 fan PS pulls air off the CPU as well. Heatpipes are
nice - notice SLK getting into one recently. May go to an
abbreviated, contained water cooled setup given the opportunity. Have
close to $50US in the CoolerMaster and saw a 2-piece contained water
setup for $60 not long ago.
