I have the SN41G2...it has two Front USB ports. When i plug in devices in
the other one, like usb drives, irda etc..it works fine. But the other
port, i plug those same devices and i get the 'USB device not recognized'
error. What's wrong here?? Is the USB port bad?? I was thinking its the wire
connection inside. but I don't think it is...if it was then i wouldn't even
get that error when i plug something.

Has anyone else experienced this??

Welcome to the wonderful world of Windows. With Windows if you plug a
device into a different port then it's recognised as a _new device_ and
needs the drivers loaded.

For example, if I plug my 802.11b port into the top USB slot on the back
then it's recognised and joins my network; if I plug it into the bottom
USB slot then it's considered a totally different network card and needs
reconfiguring.

Ugh.

Just try reloading the drivers and see what happens.

Did you enable all your ports in your BIOS? I pop my flashstick
in&out of any USB port I want with no probs. I am not sure about the
printer or scanner, I will have to experiment when I get home.

Which drivers do i reload? the USB Root Hub drivers?? Cuz it doesn't really
give me the 'new hardware found' option.

I'm sure i have them enabled...why, is there an option in the Bios the
enables only a few of the USB ports? cuz like i said the other front port
works. the one next to it is giving me the 'device not recognized' error.

When you move a device to another port, Windows says "Oh.. new device!
Hmm, looks like a XYZZY device. Oh, I have drivers for that loaded. Lets
create a new instance". It _tries_ to be clever, but may fail. So go into
the hardware device manager and delete the device (which will force a
'new hardware' part). If that doesn't work, try doing an 'update driver'.

If nothing shows up in the hardware device manager tree at all ("view by
connection") then you may have a hardware issue.
