Why are 5.25" DVD/CD drives noisy? - May seem like a silly question, buy why are optical drives used in PCs so noisy when they kick in? My DVD player isn't noisy, my CD player isn't noisy. So why are PC drives?

SP2 and Optical Drives - I have a combi Drive and a DVD Writer in my PC once Sp2 has been installed I lose one of the drives, if I swap the IDE cables around I still only get the one drive. Ive swapped the cables and both are fine. Any ideas? Cheers Max

Have you guys noticed reliability problems lately with your CD
drives? I've been getting drives that cant wind up, or keep trying to
wind up but never do. Whats a good brand for reliability?

I'm having trouble with a LG that winds up like a jet engine and the never
stops. That's annoying (but probably doesn't help your situation)
