Hi,
Does any one know if I will see any performance difference? I don't plan
on oc'ing at all. But I just got my copy of Halo and when all settings are
maxed even with a GF5 5900 ultra and 512 megs pc3200 ram, there is some slow
down. Will the 2800 with it extra 256 L2 do me any good? And no, buying an
XP 2500 and oc'ing is not an option. THanks. >> Stay informed about: Upgrading from 2700Xp to 2800 XP |

You're going to see very little performance difference between a 2700
and a 2800.

I'd get a faster grafix card instead.

Probably not, but use the performance monitor and see how much RAM
you're really using and if it's more than you have, add more.
If you've got everything maxed, you may be exceeding the performance
capability of any reasonably priced machine currently in production.

I'm an ATI bigot but I don't think that a 9800 pro is enough
faster than a GeforceFX 5900 to fix his problem.

That won't help. I would've thought your system plenty enough already
though.... If it was me, I'd try increasing the front side bus by a few MHz to
give more AGP throughput<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Upgrading from 2700Xp to 2800 XP |

No the CPU won't help. RAM might, I don't know anything about Holo. My
wife is playing SWG & yea, doubling her RAM from 512 to 1024 was like giving
her a new computer. It went from choppy in cities to smooth as silk.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Upgrading from 2700Xp to 2800 XP |

Hi;
Halo uses a whole lot of RAM.
XP "loves" a whole lot of RAM.
You actual CPU and Vidcard are well above the "recommended".
That gives you the answer and cheapest solution: RAM.
512 + 512 = 1024 =YES
