I got a P3 850 off ebay to upgrade my system. Its going on a Soyo
Sba+IV. Soyo's web site says this is the max processor it will
handle. I have the current BIOS, but the clock speed only goes to 800.
Is Soyo's support site wrong or do I manually set the clock?
If setting it manually, there is no apparent way to make it 850. As I
understand, you can't change the multiplier, just the clock speed.
Do I need to get a P3 800 instead?

If this is a 100mhz fsb processor, then it should work fine. The bios may
not directly support 850, and may not display 850 at boot time, but since
intel chips are multiplier locked, it will be running at 850 as long as the
motherboard is running at the FSB speed the chip needs. you should be able
to verify this with one of the many CPU speed detection programs that u can
run in windows, out there on the web
