I had a similar problem, though mine was with a new installation (I mean a
brand new home built box.
THe resolution in my case was to install the latest video and capture drivers,
v 8.9.
It's been argued that the sequence of de-installing and reinstalling is
important. I'm not sure but the instructions at
http://mirror.ati.com/support/drivers/winxp/radeonwdm-xp.html?type=xp&...dType=g
worked for me.
