Archived from groups: alt>windows-w2k, others (more info?)

I recently bought an AGP card with a DVI port to use with a DVI KVM
switch (also using DVI out from workstation.) The AGP card seems to
be causing a hang just prior to the initial W2k boot screen. Here are
the facts:

Win2k Advanced Server
AMD A7M266-D mobo
2 Athlon MP 1200+ processors
Rosewill ATI Radeon 9200SE 64MB

The system boots fine with a PCI video card installed. I have
attempted the following fixes:

1) Registry key fix:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE]\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\MemoryManagement
DWORD:LargePageMinimum=0xffffffff

2) Updated mobo BIOS to v1010 (most recent)

3) Installed AMD 762 chipset miniport driver for AGP (Win2k/XP)

4) Installed latest driver from ATI

5) Set AGP Compensation to Auto (default = Bypass; miniport driver
docs made mention of forcing auto)

Any help or ideas anyone would have would be much appreciated!

Archived from groups: per prev. post (more info?)

try this:
go to start\run\regedit -and then to the following key

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory
Management \LargeSystemCache- double click it and change the decimal to 0.
this will set the pc to use a greater share of memory for programs instead
of the default for your OS which is system cache.
as you suspect it's because of your ati card.
hth,
cheers
