Hi,

I have recently upgraded to Windows XP running Dual XP1500. I have attempted
to update all of the drivers, and apply all the patches I could find. But
windows XP still hangs sporadically, if anyone has had similar problems
could you please post a reply here please.

N.B. I couldn't find updated drivers for the Adaptec AIC-7899W on-board SCSI
controller?

Regards,

Liam.

I've had Windows XP Pro running on a S2462 for 2 years now with no stability
problems. (Just so you know it's possible.)

-> Are you using Windows XP Pro or Home?

-> Was it running stable before? If so, with what OS? What else changed?

-> Are you really using AMD XP CPUs? I'm not sure what the ramifications of
this would be, I've only used the approved AMD MP CPUs.

From reading this NG for the past 2 years, I've learned that many problems
can be attributed to the following:

1. Using unsupported RAM. Is your RAM on Tyan's list of approved modules?
2. Using an inferior power supply. What is the rating of your power supply
and who makes it?

Give us a little more info about your system and I'm sure someone here will
be able to help.

I see crashes as well.
It says IRQ LEVEL LESS OR EQUAL (or similar) in the dump.

Someone said that the problem is related to interrupts, and that some
cards did not tolerate sharing interrupts.
Have been trying to move around the PCI cards, but the crashes still occur.

I run Corsair memory with ECC turned on, so this should hopefull catch those
problem.
The Power Supply is Enhance which supposedly should work.

My equipment is
2 x MP1800+
512 MB Corsair memory (1 slot)
Enhance EN0460 Power supply
Creative TI4400
Creative Audigy Player
Pinnacle DC1000 MPEG-2
Windows XP Pro (Swedish)
SCSI System Disk and plenty of 3 IDE disks.

With the latest graphics driver I got another bug which freezes the system
when I play one particular (very simple) game.

I recall a discussion in another NG that blamed Creative's drivers for the
'IRQ' error you describe. Supposedly, early Audigy drivers had some issues
with dual CPU systems. I would occasionally see that error when playing
games, but it seems to have disappeared after the last Audigy driver update.

Though, as you point out, that error could also be attributed to interrupt
conflicts with other devices in the system.
