I'm focusing on the laptop now instead of the network hardware...
Can anyone tell me why I would have no problems with the Proxim Cardbus
card, but no luck with my DLink or SMC cards?
- I know the Proxim card is a 3.3volt card, not sure about the others
- I know my configurations are correct as I can configure the working Proxim
in my sleep and the other cards are configured similarly.
- The DLink sees my SSID (and neighbours too) but shows 0 signal strength on
the Link Info page. Refuses to connect.
- The DLink doesn't see my 802.11a WAP no matter how close I get to it.
- I've tried a fresh install of WinXP SP1 as well as the current Windows ME
installation
I'm thinking that my cardbus slots are busted somehow, like not putting out
a good 5volts and the newer cards need the 5v instead of 3.3v... but the
power light comes on fine and the activity light does flicker a bit (which I
assume is scanning of some sort).
Does anyone know of any way I could test my cardbus slots?
Any other ideas as to what may be going on here?
