Mike,
That board should work well with most linux and definitely with Red Hat.
I've used the X5DP8-GG with Red Hat. As for a good case, the Antec
1080 AMG is a fantastic case, and it ships with a 430 watt power supply
that will work with that board. If you want a rackmount case,
Supermicro cases are incredibly good. They're not always the quietest
things around, nor the least expensive, but cooling and power are
fantastic. Cooling is always an issue, and Supermicro and Antec both
handle cooling VERY well.
If you need a good reseller, I'd check out <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.mbx.com/" target="_blank">http://www.mbx.com/</a> They
have an unequaled warranty, fantastic tech support, great product
selection, and great staff.
