Ok to mount OnStream 50GB tape drive vertically? - Is it ok to mount a SCSI OnStream 50GB tape drive on its side? That is, rather than lay flat as you would normally mount a drive, flip it up on its side like you can do with some CD-ROM drives? Any tips thanks! --Dan

All of a suddent, the PC can't mount some USB devices I connect to it.
One 2GB pen drive that mounted OK before stopped mounting. But
strangely another 1GB one still works.

A replaced 500GB Seagate SATA connected with SATA to USB adapter won't
mount. The usual ding sound (when Windows recognized a hardware being
connected) was there and the HD noise started but it does not mount on
deskop. From Device manager, the HD was recognized under Disk drives.
I tried deleting the device and "Scan for hardware changes" but device
came back up but the drive still didn't show up. The previous HD (same
model, failed later) mounted on this system fine before.

The 2 devices that won't mount on this XP PC mount on a laptop with
Vista fine.

Anything I should try to mount the HDs?

Thanks for the help,

I found the reason. Somehow the drive letter has become D (was F) and
F is disabled. I was able to turn it back on with TweakUI.

Don't know why it changed since I did't set it up myself.
